REVIEW – True Grit

BEER NAME: True Grit
BEER STYLE: Amber Ale
BREWERY: mad Giant
REGION: Johannesburg
ABV 5%
INGREDIENTS: Water, barley, hops and yeast
BREWER’S NOTES: A “never say die” Amber Ale
Here’s to our brewmaster’s legendary father who devoted 9 years to building an aeroplane in his garage – only to crash it during his test flight. He is currently building Mark II. We salute you, sir. Medium bitterness, like that first, failed attempt followed by the sweet biscuit, honey, caramel and toffee flavours of success followed by citrus and fruity hop aromas of everlasting glory. An elegant beer that slows down time for a quiet contemplation around the drawing board as you plot your flight plan to success.
TASTING NOTES:
- APPEARANCE: Deep Amber with a medium creamy white head
- AROMA: Toasted Malt and fruity Citrus on the nose
- FLAVOUR: Well balanced notes of toasty malt, biscuit and citrus, with a zesty and rather bitter finish
- MOUTHFEEL: Light to medium bodied with good carbonation that tingles the tongue
- OVERALL: True Grit has gone for some distinct yet well balanced flavours that compliment the style well. It’s bitter finish leave you wanting more.
- PAIR WITH: Parmesan cheese, sticky Asian Spare Ribs or Banoffee Pie
BREW REVIEW RATING: 7 / 10
