REVIEW: INNIS & GUNN IPA

REVIEW: INNIS & GUNN IPA

BEER NAME: INNIS & GUNN IPA

BEER STYLE: IPA

BREWERY: INNIS & GUNN

REGION: Scotland

ABV 5.6%

INGREDIENTS: Water, malted barley, wheat, yeast & hops

BREWER’S NOTES: Every ingredient in this beer is chosen with one thing in mind; filling your mouth with spine-tingling flavour. Soft Scottish water, brewed with slow-kilned malted barley and Munich malt, provides a rich, malty backbone. Heaps of Cascade, Centennial and Mandarina hops pack an intense fruity, citrusy punch to balance the flavour leaving you thirsty for your next sip.

TASTING NOTES:

  • APPEARANCE: Pleasant honey gold and slightly hazy in colour, small head with little retention
  • AROMA: Hop forward floral & fruity blast
  • FLAVOUR: Straight up hops, grapefruit and floral notes, dry bitterness that carries through and lingers and tickles on the back of the tongue
  • MOUTHFEEL: Light to medium bodied, a little low on the carbonation, but the bitterness compliments the lack of bubbly activity
  • OVERALL: Probably the closest match to a Gin & Tonic flavour that you could find in a beer. Refreshingly light and bitter, would be perfect for a hot summers sundowner.
  • PAIR WITH: Indian food, mexican food, salty food, burger or steak

BREW REVIEW RATING: 7 / 10
